The Unbusy Summer – Part Four

August 4, 2009 by

After four days out of town with my family, I spent one day doing laundry, going to the doctor and teaching VBS.  Today, I’m trying to get back into our routine.  Its difficult. Something has changed.  When we left, we were still in the “unbusy summer” mode.  Now, we realize that summer is coming to a close soon.  Softball season is over.  The pools are only open another week or two and school will start in just three weeks!

There is a different feel in the house.  The kids are getting on each other’s nerves – and therefore, mine.  I want to go back to our lazy summer style, but I can see we are over that now!  Our family needs to get some structure back.  The kids need to stick to their morning and evening routines.  I need to stick to mine.  We need to schedule some day trips and activities.  This will get us ready for the school year that is fast approaching.

I’m not going to lie.  I am not looking forward to the end of summer.  I like the easy pace of it.  But, I can see some areas of the house that are being neglected and I really need a hairstyle besides a ponytail!

So, I guess getting back into our routine now means making a new one.  I’ll work on that….

Is your routine changing?  Are you ready for the school year to start?

Hey girl! I guess we are different on that thought. At the beginning of summer, I’m excited… the kids are great! At the end mine do the same thing, getting on each others nerves and more. Kids do need some sort of routine for sure. I think it is okay to have some chill time and not be busy but I know my kids and myself are ready… no shame here! LOL.
