What A Blessed Week!
August 7, 2009 by Marci
At the beginning of the week, I have to admit I was not looking forward to what was on the schedule. There were doctor visits, swim lessons and some other stuff I can’t remember right now. Then, each night was vacation bible school. This seemed overwhelming since our summer has been pretty open and unscheduled – unbusy. I was expecting a stressed out, unpleasant week. Boy, was I wrong! This week has been full of blessings!
First, my doctor visits turned out to be huge blessings! Actually, I went to see my chiropractor and my nutritionist. Medical docs just don’t work for me. They are working together to get to the bottom of some issues I am having. I feel so much better now!! And I just started my treatments. This is huge blessing for me.
Next, my son was not looking forward to swim lessons. In fact, he was throwing a fit before we went. However, when we got to the lessons the instructor was awesome. He told my son he didn’t have to take lessons that day. My son was so relieved. Then, the instructor asked him (with a wink) if he would just like to swim in the pool and have fun. My little guy liked that idea. So, they just swam in the pool together. My son swam better and tried new things more than if he would have had a “lesson”. Not wanting to have a “lesson” turned out to be a blessing.
This week was also our VBS at church. I didn’t like the idea of having it in the evening. I thought we would all be exhausted by the time we got started. I had a bad attitude going in, which worried me because I was teaching the 5th and 6th grade lessons. Turns out, I was concerned and stressed over nothing. We have had an awesome week! We have had great kids and they have soaked up the songs and the lessons. There were actually chances to see the kids apply God’s word to their lives! What a blessing!
Why does it seem that the things that we dread the most turn out to be nothing at all and sometimes turn out to be huge blessings? Why do we worry even though God tells us not to?
I’m linking up with Chele at The Bona Fide Life and the Friday Blessings. How have you been blessed this week?

Awe! Thanks Marci… you know I love you right?!
I’m glad your week turned out good… I was praying for you!! Answered prayers, gotta love that!!
Glad you are feeling better and your son enjoyed his swim – his instructor sounds so tuned in!
Our mind is great at getting in the way and generating fear and anxiety; but as you point out, the anticipation is usually far worse than the event.
So glad too, that not only were these things ok for you; but they bought you gifts.
THanks for sharing this uplifting post.
