Benefits Of Sleep
August 17, 2009 by Marci
Here I am blowing away my 10 o’clock bedtime habit. I did so good last night and thought I was going to make it tonight, too. I really should get to sleep. The kids and I are going to the state fair tomorrow. It was supposed to be a family trip, but my husband had something come up at work that needed to be addressed tomorrow. We are meeting my mom and my aunt there, so its not like I am going it alone. Still, a little sleep would be nice!
Since starting my quest for the 10 o’clock bedtime, I have realized how much better my body does with just an hour of extra sleep. I get out of bed faster and with a clearer head. I am not wanting to take a quick nap in the middle of the afternoon. It has made it easier to want to and make time for exercise. That is a habit I was originally going to work on first, but I thought that sleep might be the most important new habit to work on. Looks like getting the extra sleep might be what I needed to keep with the exercise.
Another benefit of the earlier bedtime has been the improved ability to handle stress. I have more patience with the kids and other stuff in our lives. Things roll off my back a little easier. Instead of blowing up, I find myself assessing the situtation and taking care of what needs to be taken care of.
With that said….time for bed!!! I don’t want to ruin our trip to the fair!
