Life is short

September 11, 2009 by Marci

The whole reason for this blog  to exist is to uncover and destroy the lie that we have to be “busy” and have to “accomplish”  in order to have a fulfilling life in today’s society.  The lie says that we can and should do it all.  As wives and mothers, it is our duty to cook and clean and have a career and raise children and volunteer (at school, at church, in our community).  Our kids should follow suit.  They should be involved in as many activities as possible so that their true talents are developed and, God forbid, they don’t get bored.  Our family calendars should be full to overflowing so that we don’t miss anything.

I’m here to tell you that if you have bought the lie you are missing out on something….maybe everything.

Life is short.  There are no do-overs.  This is the only shot we’ve got.  Are you using your time wisely?  Are you spending time with the ones that matter most?  Are you living your life or the life you think society wants you to live?

Clear your calendar.  Hide the car keys.  Turn off the phone and the computer and the TV.  Kiss your spouse.  Hug your kids.  Go from there.
