menu plan monday (2)

Welcome to Menu Plan Monday!  This is a great way to get your week off on the right foot.  Planning your menu’s for the week will save you lots of time and money.  You will be able to make a grocery list that will save  you from buying what you don’t need and save you from buying dinner out.

Last week’s menu got tweaked as the week went by.  The chicken parmesan got changed to chicken tacos thanks to a fabulous recipe by goodlife eats.  The pizza wheels were a hit, but the wings got put on hold and we substituted caprese salad and tortellini skewers (cold tortellini covered in Italian dressing and skewered).   The chinese ribs that I had been in my recipe stash for 5 years were a little disappointing.  Not as flavorful as I had hoped, but the kids really liked them.

The kids lunch menu had been a life saver.  Occasionally, there is a bit of moaning about whats for lunch, but I remind them that they helped me choose the week’s lunches so there should be no complaining.

This week, I am really feeling fall coming on.  The kids and I went to the apple orchard on Friday and picked apples and bought some apple cider.  I made a super easy apple strudel yesterday and I plan on making some apple butter tomorrow with a crock pot recipe I founf.  Even my kids are feeling it and have been asking for soups and chili and comfort foods.  The weather is still not that cool, but I might have to break out some fall recipes.  Here is what I am planning this week.

Dinners

Cream of potato soup, homemade bread, salad

Roast chicken, steamed purple string beans, roasted potatoes

Dinner out for the husband’s birthday

Left overs

Pasta alfredo, caprese salad

Kids lunch

Bean burritos

Ravioli

Ramen noodles

Chicken quesadillas

That is my plan for the week.  I’m linking up to Organizing Junkie for more menu planning ideas.  For tips on organizing your grocery list, check out last week’s post on the subject.  Have a great week!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I will have to go back and read your posts about organized grocery shopping…love it! I should also say that with the repeat menu, making a grocery list is easy. I keep a standard shopping list for every 2 weeks of meals on the computer, then just add extras we might need here and there. It has made shopping so much easier!

  2. Sounds like a good week–the night out for the birthday boy will be a fun break in the routine! Enjoy your family time!
