Not Just A Plain Old Scarf

November 21, 2009 by Marci

My daughter just loves to create.  She has always enjoyed art and crafts and sharing her creations with others.  A couple weeks ago, I wrote about my little entrepreneur and her new Artfire shop, Dallas Designs.  That has been a dream come true for her and quite a learning experience.  Because of her new online jewelry business, her creative energy has mostly been directed towards beads and earrings.  I was afraid she was getting in a rut and would be bored soon.  So, she and I were both excited when she was able to use her creativity to solve a problem and make something fabulous.

Here’s the story….Dallas loves scarves, but had never been able to keep them on.  She, also, likes a little style and scarves can be a little boring.  Today, I showed her a great tutorial on Dollar Store Crafts for a fleece scarflet with buttons.  Dallas liked the idea, but still wanted a scarf that draped and flowed.  This is what she came up with.

She took some beautiful buttons from her button collection and sewed them onto a fleece scarf she had bought and then added button holes.  The result is fabulous!  I’m going to get her to make me one!

  1. How cute! Great solution. When I was a kid, I also liked to make & sell stuff I made. It was such a great experience. Yay for you for encouraging her!
