Great Links To Help Organize Your New Year!

a fresh start

Now that the holidays are over, does anyone else feel the need for some “spring cleaning” in January?! Since taking the decorations down, I can see I need to clean and organize just about every area of my house. My plan throughout the year is to organize a little area every week or even every day that I get a chance to. That way, I don’t have to waste time and energy in a great organizing panic once the house really needs it.( Usually when I realize someone is coming for a visit or I have volunteered to host a gathering at our house!)  But at Christmastime, we shut down just about every extra activity and enjoy the season with family and friends. The house still gets cleaned and all that, but the deep cleaning and organizing gets put on the back burner.

It seems that January is a popular month for organizing. I guess its a way to make a fresh start this new year. Every magazine cover and newspaper ad mentions organizing tips and supplies. For a while, I had planned on doing a series of posts about organizing and cleaning for the new year. But then I thought, “Why reinvent the wheel? Why do the same thing others are doing and probably better than I would have?” That’s a pretty “busy” thing to do.  So, I decided I would share some great links to bloggers that are either doing a organizing series this month or who are organizing experts all year long! Enjoy!

Mandi at Organizing Your Way is doing 31 Days of Organizing for a Better 2010. Each day of January, she is highlighting another area of life to organize and linking to other bloggers who are doing the same thing.

Marcia at Organising Queen is ….well…the Organising Queen all year long!

At Complete Organizing Systems, Tanna serves up great organizing tips, inspiration and product reviews.

During January, Econobusters.com is having its 31 Days of Organization.

One of my favorite decorating blogs, Centsational Girl, is hosting Five Days to a Fresh Start this week.  There are posts about decluttering, organizing and cleaning.

After your house is clean and decluttered, how do you decorate for winter that’s not too Christmas-y?  That always stumps me.  Kimba at A Soft Place To Land, has a great post today on winter decorating.  Love it!

Those are just a few great sites off the top of my head.  Do you have any favorite organizing or housekeeping blogs that might help us in our quest to be organized and not busy?  Please share!!

it certainly seems to be the month to clean and organize! I was just doing a little of this on the kid’s toy hoard. Getting rid of a lot to be exact. This year i have made a small decision to focus on quality not quantity. How many things do we buy because it is cheap, not because we love it? Maybe I’d have the budget to get that expansive item, I just adore if I didn’t buy the cheap stuff that ends up in the Salvation Army bin. :) Are you cleaning and organizing! My sideboard with the junk drawer is next.

  2. Thanks for linking to the 31 Days series, Marci! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of those series as well!
