Start Overcoming Busy Right Now – Pray
January 22, 2010 by Marci

“If I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory through the day. I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer.” – Martin Luther
I’m not suggesting you spend three hours each morning in prayer – although feel free if you want to. (As a friend said to me “I wonder if Martin Luther had a family!”) This quote speaks volumes to me. I’m sure Martin Luther had a few things on his plate, being the leader of the reformation and all, yet he did not try to do it all on his own. He realized where his strength and wisdom lie. Each morning, he spent time with the Lord to replenish his strength and gain new wisdom for the day ahead.
Where are you drawing your strength for the day? Are you trying to do it all on your own? The Lord is wanting to spend time with you and help you through your busy life. His time is not reserved for leaders of the church. If you feel like you have hit a wall and have used up all your strength and patience, try spending some time in prayer each day. It might be in the morning. It might be during the kids naptime. You might just pray or you might want to do a devotion from an online source or a book.
The point is it is foolish to try and manage a family through this treacherous world on our own. God doesn’t want us to. The Lord has unlimited resources ready to call on your behalf. Many of us use prayer as an emergency plan to get us out of a hole we have dug ourselves. Imagine having such a relationship with God that we know what he wants us to do from day to day and we stop digging those holes!
Are you trying to do it all on your own? How is your prayer life?

AMEN!
My day always goes so much better when I’ve spent time in prayer and reflection with the Lord first.
I like to think of this quote too:
~Be the kind of woman that when your feet
hit the floor each morning the devil says
“Oh Crap, She’s up!”~
I found it on facebook flair of all places!
I love that quote!!!
