Menu Plan Monday – March 1, 2010
March 1, 2010 by Marci

Last week’s meals were so good! I love the week after I get my Everyday Food magazine! We eat very well as I try all kinds of different recipes. I have to say, there were a few highlights.
*The Braised Leeks were wonderful. My daughter even liked them. We cooked the leftovers in omelets Sunday morning.
*Cabbage and Parsley Slaw with Capers was so good and fresh and crispy. I might make it again this week.
*The Orecchiette with Bacon and Tomato Sauce was very good. Friends stopped by and stayed for dinner and this was a hit.
All of those recipes can be found in the March 2010 issue of Everyday Food.
What about this week?
After last week’s great menu, I am feeling the pressure to make some great meals this week. But what are we in the mood for? We all have cabin fever here and are officially tired of the cold and snow. There are seedlings sprouting in the tray on the window seat. My kids refuse to wear coats. I am thinking of a fresh, getting ready for spring menu. How about this:
Dinner
Honey baked chicken, red potatoes, steamed asparagus
Homemade tomato and italian sausage sauce over pasta, mixed green salad
Calzones stuffed with mozzarella, tomatoes and spinach, mixed green salad
Homemade chicken strips, onion-cucumber salad, mac n cheese
Sesame chicken wings, rice, bok choy salad
Left overs
What are you feeding your family?
Do you have your menu planned out for the week? If not, I encourage you to do so. It saves time and money. No more staring into the fridge at 5pm hoping for a meal to miraculously appear. No more running to the store or restaurant every day because there is nothing to eat at home.

I have an Italian Beef Sub recipe on my blog today. It has the most robust flavor-we LOVE it!
Hey, try this one…I am not really a soup fan…maybe had too much of it as a kid, but this one we all liked. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Cabbage-and-White-Bean-Soup-with-Sausage-241619
That Orecchiette dish sounds wonderful…bacon is also one of my daughter’s all time favorite too. oh, I just thought of it, but I’ll stick some sweet potato noodles in the package I am sending off (monday??? I am so terrible at getting things in the mail) so you can try out chap chae. Like PUL, sweet potato noodles could be hard to locate in your neck of the woods.
I think it was the chicken apple sausage. My daughter just ate and ate, and ate, and ate all my sausage.
