Simplify E-book Giveaway

March 12, 2010 by

In 2008, Joshua Becker and his family started the journey toward a minimalist lifestyle.  Joshua, his wife and two young children realized that possessions don’t equal joy (great post by the way!) and that the “less stuff you own, the less stuff owns  you”.  And the decluttering began.  The Becker’s learned to not only get rid of material stuff, but of other junk in their lives that was getting in the way of a simple, free life.  Kinda sounds like they got the “busy” our of their lives, doesn’t it?!

Their journey is chronicled in the blog Becoming Minimalist.  There they share their victories and struggles in this journey and offer great tips and revelations they have made along the way.   Not only is their blog a great resource and inspiration for those wanting to overcome busy, Joshua Becker has written a new e-book Simplify. 7 Guidelines to Help Anyone Declutter Their Home and Life. In this book, the Becker family shares lessons they have learned while going minimalist.

This is a fabulous resource for those serious about overcoming the busy in their lives.  And one lucky Overcoming Busy reader gets an e-copy FREE!!  Joshua Becker has graciously offered a copy for our giveaways this week!!  Just enter the drawing by the methods below and I’ll choose a winner at random Saturday March 13th at 7pm cst.

Declutter – a magic word? I have been decluttering for a long time. Married for 6 years with 2 crazy girls, we are inundated with toys, clothes, hobbies (Lego, anyone?) books, and gifts. Not to mention paper piles from mail, flyers and the never-ending preschool arts and crafts. We just need some help, I think!

I have recently subscribed to the Becoming Minimalist blog and have started working on majorly decluttering my house. I’m about 1/2 way done, but still have my bathroom, garage, and filing cabinet! What a great giveaway! Thanks!

I need to declutter my basement storage area. A year ago, I tidied it up, installed shelves etc, but it became a dumping ground for the entire family’s junk.

I need to declutter because I have chronic health issues and all the extra stuff we have makes it harder for me to be able to handle the cleaning, organizing, etc.

I’ve been slowly, slowly decluttering for almost a year now. I’ve found that as I’ve cleared space in my house, I’ve been happier, less overwhelmed by life, and new opportunities have had the karmic space to present themselves.

It’s clear though, that I’ve only just begun the journey. I’ve been paring down my ginormous collection of books, and given how long it has taken me to even DUST my CDs today, it’s clear many of those need to go as well.

Reading books like Simplify have helped me keep up my motivation time and again–but I haven’t read Simplify itself yet! I hope to do so soon, with this contest. Thank you!

[I think] I live in a constant mode of declutter. The chief reasons being that my family of 6 lives in a 1600sf house…with a large dog…and we homeschool…and garden…. Which is to say that we can produce a whole lot of clutter.

I welcome reading anything about simplifying life.

thanks for the chance to win the e-book.

  16. Tami says:

Oh, how I would love this book. I have been attempting to become more minimalist-ish lately and this would be a great asset. Thanks for the chance.
