Vacation Mode
March 26, 2010 by Marci
Did you know that you can set your email account on vacation mode? Did you know that you can change the message on your cell phone to say that you’ll be unavailable for a couple days? Did you know that you can actually survive without turning on your computer for days at a time? It’s true!!! Did you know that you can set yourself on vacation mode?
Why do you think employers give vacation time to employees? They need a break! Rested, happy employees make better employees! When is the last time you gave yourself some vacation time? When was the last time you put away the to-do list and just relaxed and enjoyed time with your spouse and children? I know it’s been too long here. Don’t you think a rested, happy mom is a better mom?
That’s why I am pleased to tell you that as of Saturday night I will be in vacation mode – for a whole week! What exactly does vacation mode mean? It means that my husband and I will turn off the cell phones and the computers. We will put the email accounts on vacation mode. I will schedule posts in advance for Overcoming Busy next week. Our time will be spent together, with our family. Enjoying their company and hopefully, getting priorities straight. My hubby and I are even taking a few days away without the kids.
I have to tell you I am excited and nervous at the same time! Can I survive without the internet? Will I go crazy without my cell phone and email? Will my hubby implode without his crackberry blackberry? This is a grand experiment for us both. It has taken some planning and extra work this week to set it all up, but it will be worth it. We need the rest and the refreshing.
I’ll let you all in on how it went on Monday April 5th. Until then, schedule yourself a vacation day. Turn off the outside world and spend time enjoying your family or spend some time alone. You’ll be better for it!
