The Last Days Of Summer Are Upon Us

As the back to school ads roll out, the kids’ baseball and softball seasons come to a close and the corn here in the midwest is as tall as the sky, I can feel summer slipping away.  I wait all year long for these few months of heat and humidity, of barefeet and tank tops, and of swimming pools and ballgames.  And here we are.  I can see its end from here.  Part of me wants to be sad and sulk.  The smarter part of me wants to be intentional and make the most of the days of summer we have left.

So, we will swim.

We will run through the sprinklers.

We will eat popsicles in the driveway.

We will go on sunset bike rides.

We will grill almost every meal outside.

We will go to the zoo and the park.

We will have fun and enjoy being a family.

Summers are fleeting.  So are the days with our family.  I will make the most of them.

I read your entry and immediately panicked! Then checked the calendar and realized we are only in day 25 of our 70 days of summer. Whew :) Love your list and plan on doing a few of those things, too. Enjoy your weekend!

Quite similar to my “fails” post today, Marci! We have been so lazy this week, but I am so thankful for the chance to just be with my kids – no plans, just us, the pool, and good ol’ fashioned snuggles! ;)

okay, I must admit, like Lee, that I too panicked when I saw this post title. And then got my bearings and remembered we aren’t even into August yet. I guess that is just the list-crazed, organizer, calendar toting kind of reader you attract!! :) Here is to a few more endless lazy days…

I guess some people are just starting their summers. My son is going to Kindergarten this year and his school starts August 18th!! That’s less than a month away!! I have to register him next week! Since the local schools start then, we’ll just start homeschooling my daughter then too. Not ready for summer to be over!

Oh, it goes way to fast! The days are already getting shorter, the mornings cooler. I wish summer would last forever.
