Good vs Best

August 13, 2010 by

Part of my morning routine is to check my email and if it is a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, I check to make sure the Overcoming Busy post is up.   This morning, there was no new post.  “Hmmm…thats strange.”  In my mind, I had typed out and scheduled today’s post last weekend.  At this point, I figured I had a couple choices.  I could drop everything.  Tell the kids to leave me alone for a while.  And then I could frantically type the whole post and publish it.  (I’m a pen and paper girl.  Typing on a keyboard doesn’t really inspire me.  So, it’s not like I could copy and paste the post.)  Or, I could say “forget it” and spend the day with my kids as I had planned.  I chose the latter…and the best.

It’s not like I had big, fun-filled plans for the kids and I today, but I did have plans together.  Plans that did not include a computer or the internet.  We cleaned the kids rooms.  We cleaned the living room and vacuumed.  We built a house out of blocks.  We played dominoes.

It is late afternoon now.  My daughter went to work with my hubby and my son is playing quietly.  Reflecting on the day, I was inspired to write this.  Blogging is good and I had a good post planned for today, but sometimes we have to make a decision and choose the BEST over the GOOD.  Today, I am happy to say I chose the best.

I’ll share the post I had planned for today with you next week.  Have a great weekend and choose the BEST!

  5. Yay for you! I LOVE this. Such a smart move.

It is often difficult to chose the best over the good. To choose what is important over what seems to be urgent.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and am so happy to see it in action here.

Our kids are only young once. We won’t ever regret making these choices!
