Steps To Organizing Your Pantry
April 2, 2011 by Marci
This week’s Project Simplify mission was decluttering the pantry and fridge. And I said – thank God! They need help! The fridge hasn’t been cleaned well since Christmas and I haven’t gone through the pantry in….it’s been a while. It’s time.
So, where do I start? As with any goal, you need a plan to accomplish it. Here’s my process.
- Remove all contents
- Wipe down the shelves and sides
- Toss any outdated or unwanted food
- Consolidate where you can – ex. Consolidate all extra opened pasta into one plastic container.
- Use baskets or boxes to keep bags and packets together and orderly
- Add contents back in a like goes with like system. – ex. Put all vinegars together. Put all cans together.
Here are my pantry pictures.
Ahh…makes me feel better just looking at it! (I didn’t get before pictures of the fridge, so I won’t boreĀ you with the clean after pics.) One of the reasons I put this off so long was that I thought it would take forever, but I had it done within an hour! Not bad! What’s next?! I’m ready!
What area in your home are you putting off organizing?

You would be so proud of me; I tackled my kitchen cabinets this week, even the dreadful ones!! I should have taken before and after pics!
Love that you have a boom box in your pantry!
Great and to the point. That’s what I need to get me organized. I’ll be following. Thanks!
oooooh! I have some of those same tupperware containers! (giggle) You did an awesome job, girl!
Thanks so much for stopping by sweetjeanette.com and leaving your comment…you should totally go get that crab meat and make that bisque! LOL I had a bowl, and hubby at the rest. Yes, he was full and I had to hear about it all night, but he said it was so worth it!
Thanks again for dropping by!
That is great! I so need to spend time cleaning and reorganizing my closets. My children can UNorganize everything quicker than it takes me to put things back in the proper place!
I guess I am putting off organizing because I know that it will just be messed again after my children get to it. LOL
