What Matters Most – Wisdom
June 9, 2011 by Marci
We are on a journey to overcome busy, but why? So we can spend time on What Matters Most! Throughout the month of June, bloggers and moms will inspire you with what matters most to them. Today, I welcome my friend Cheryl from Somewhat Crunchy.

Do you ever struggle with the “ives”? I do. Sometimes I’m
Impulsive
Inattentive
Explosive
Obsessive
And many others, but you get the idea. And I wonder, what am I teaching my kids? Am I honoring my husband with this behavior? And most importantly, am I glorifying God?
At one time or another we all fall into an “ive” rut. It can stem from so many sources – the immaturity of youth, the exhaustion of new motherhood, desperation of poverty or even plain old insecurity. But I think it all boils down to wisdom. We’re human. Trials come our way and we don’t always react wisely. But there is hope! We can seek balance and train ourselves in wisdom and maturity.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
How much better would home life be if we were truly wise? We would not worry about spilt milk (literally) for we would know that God giveth and God taketh away (Job 1:21). We would not stress when our husbands are away on business trips, leaving us to manage the household alone because we would know that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). And there would be no tears over a too-full schedule, we wouldn’t have overfilled it to begin with because we’d realize how to make the most of our time (Ephesians 5:15-17).
We would know these truths in our hearts as well as our heads!
There is a wisdom that comes with maturity. So many times I’ve wished for my grandmother’s composure and patience. How I wish I could instantly have the perspective of a woman who has lived a long and fruitful life. And I’m coming to realize I can! Again -
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
As you follow the What Matters Most series, join me in praying for wisdom. Let us ask in faith for God to grant us the maturity of spirit required to bless our homes, our families, friends and communities. May our hearts be aligned in His peace.

Cheryl- Thanks so much for sharing with us! I often think back to the wisdom of my Grandmother. She gained it from experience and her relationship with the Lord. I need that!!

Marci, this is a great series! xo
[...] Busy has started a What Matter Most Series. In a recent post I was reminded that I, too, could have the wisdom, composure and patience of my grandmother. [...]
Thank you for that, especially for the verse in James. I certainly lack wisdom much of the time, but specifically on dealing with a family situation next week. Memorizing and praying that verse…
Thank you all for the kind words! I’m so glad you they touched your heart. I am so glad I am not alone in the desire for true wisdom. God bless!
