Living In The Moment – Thankful

November 18, 2011 by

This time of year makes us focus on what should always be our hearts cry – gratitude. We should be grateful for our health, our families, our possessions, our relationships, our homes, our jobs, our God. Our hearts should cry out in thankfulness to the loving, gracious Lord who makes it all possible. Not just on Thanksgiving. Not just on holidays. Not just on Sundays.  Always. Our lives should be lived in an attitude of thankfulness.

I assume that most of us are thankful for the blessings we receive daily. But, how many of us give thanks daily? We get caught up in life. We get busy. We loose sight of the One from whom blessings flow.

We are like the 10 lepers in Luke 17 who are healed by Jesus. Of the 10 only 1 actually thanks Jesus for his healing.  I’m sure the other 9 were thankful, but they were so caught up in themselves that they didn’t take the time to give thanks to the One who gave them their healing.

Why not take time. Take a moment.

  1. I am guilty of this. It is very sad that I have to force myself to remember to be thankful. I know God isn’t finished with me yet, so I hope that one day I will find thankfulness is a natural part of my days!
